Samuel Kassahun

Executive Director

Samuel Kassahun is currently serving as the Executive Director of Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE). He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Addis Ababa University in 2003. He also obtained two Master of Arts Degrees (in Developmental Psychology and Educational Research) with very great distinction from Addis Ababa University in 2006 and 2009 respectively. He has also completed another Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership at MLSC in 2019. He is about to obtain his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of South Africa.

Samuel has long years of teaching and research experience. He served as a lecturer for more than 11 years at Adama Science and Technology University prior to joining the CSO sector in 2017. During his stay at Adama Science and Technology University, he served the university as a Distance and Continuing Education Coordinator, Research and Publication Officer, Pedagogical Skill Improvement Support Training Facilitator, Electronic Teaching online Instructor (among the few pioneers), Department Head, University International Link Team Leader, University Research and Publication Office Senate Standing Committee, University Senate member, etc, in addition to his teaching and research role. In addition, he conducted several research and developed course materials and modules. His area of interest includes Human Rights, Child Rights, Good Governance, Anti- Corruption, Research (especially on Quality of Education), Behavior, and Ethics, especially on children and the youth.

He has been acting as an Anti-Corruption activist since his high school years actively participating in Ethics and Anti-Corruption clubs prior to joining Transparency Ethiopia voluntarily in 2007. He has been a member of Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE) since 2007 assisting the Anti-Corruption movement being a member of the General Assembly, Oromia Regional State Representative, and Executive Board Member. Samuel has formally joined Transparency International Ethiopia (TIE) secretariat as an Executive Director since August 2017.
